Sting - Complete

I am very happy to share our Sting here.
Without a much of problem we have managed to finish our work... in time! :D

Like i've mentioned on the previous Sting post Im so glad Kelly and Laura helped me a lot and kindly let me join into their group even it was already half way through the term. I don't know how much I can say THANK YOU to them.

The final Outcome... I am very happy. The only thinkg I feel shame is that this animation has to be only 20 seconds!! If we were allowed to make it in at least 1 minute the animation would have become smoother with more details.
Overall I really enjoyed working on this project, and it has definitely taught me a lot of new skills and I definitely feel that I have improved. I also have more confident compared to myself before this project.

Even I had my medical problems interrupting my will-power and concentration I feel that I have managed to work fairly hard.

Sting - Group Opinion...

Since we are on our final week I thought I would write my opinion towards to our group.

Half way through the term I had to move groups because I had a bit of problem with my previous group. Ive moved into Kelly and Laura's group (they have kindly accepted me to join their group even it was half way through the term!) and I felt much happier and comfortable.

The first thing I thought about this group is that both Kelly and Laura has very high level of skills, when I first saw their work I did get a bit nervous because I didn't know whether I would be able to catch up with their skills, at the very beginning I couldn't even use Flash... But they have kindly helped me to catch up and helped me using Flash and everything else that I needed to catch up.
Also I had/have another problem... I have medical conditions that I can't quite estimate my further health condition. Often I had to stay at home and rest which I believe it has made our group a bit difficult. But they have communicated me via e-mails and texts and telling me what I could do while I am at home in bed, so even I had to miss some of the days I still felt like I was a part of group. My health has interrupted me so much and I know that I could have done better if I wasn't ill so often, I would like to appologise for how I was been since I've joined into the group!

Our working process... I think we are doing well to reach the deadline, we didn't really need to rush to get the work done, it was a good pace (not too slow or fast) and it didn't stressed me out at all.
Our director, Kelly was really good at directing me and she was very clear of what she wanted me to do, so I didn't have much of a problem while producing our animation. Also she was mostly happy with what I did and when there was a problem she instantly told me the problem so that I was able to make a change. When I give her my part of work she always checked it instantly so that was very helpful. Her drawings are fantastic, very professional so sometimes when I had to clean the drawings up I felt very nervous!
Laura has helped me a lot on Flash, she was also very clear and once she gave me a lecture (?) of what I need to do, I was able to do it with no difficulties. Also she often gave me some advices while I was in the process of some of the scenes. These advices was very helpful and it has helped a lot to improve our animation. Also her attitude towards to this project was very good, she always told me and kelly to 'Work!!' and it had really helped us to just crack on.

Overall I really enjoyed and very happy that Ive joined into this group, I don't think I would have been able to improve my own skills and feeling comfortable if I was working on my own. I would just love to say a big THANK YOU for Kelly and Laura, again, who let me join into their group.

Sting Animation - Arm rising Key frames and Inbetween

This is the scene that Ive animated (Key frames and Inbetween) and Laura will be clearning this up. It looks pretty messy right now but I think I've managed to time it right. (It looks a bit slow on GIF)

Sting Animation - Colouring In and adding Minerva

Another Scene I've coloured in. and also I have added the Minerva symbols onto her shield.

Sting Animation - Motion Tween (2)

Another Motion Tween on the girl's Eyes.
(Ive also coloured her in)

The eyes was a bit complicated since the movement has to match with the dragon sliding down and also 2 eyes movement got to match otherwise it looks wrong.

Sting Animation - Motion Tween

It was my first time to use Motion Tween on Flash... I have animated the star above the dragon's head.

It was REALLY complicated at the beginning but Ive managed to create the spinning stars.

Sting Animation - GIF Animation 2

Another scenes that Ive done on flash. The first scene is the close up of her arm and hand holding blue ball. Its the still image so no animation.

Second scene is the stairs with a dog sleeping and the girl standing at the top of the stairs.
Ive worked a lot onto the sleeping dog. The dog was my first attempt to animate with using flash so Im sort of proud of this. It took me a bit of time to get everything right like on my first go his nose wasn't in the same shape. Also I struggled to colour in the characters somehow.

Last scene is the close up of the girl holding the blue ball. Again, still image so no animation.

Sting Animation - GIF Animation

This is the scene that Ive done on Flash. The scene where the girl sort of gets surprised by the Dragon' "Raaaaawr". Its a simple animation that 3 or 4 frames are repeating.

Sting Animation - Previous group's work (Extra drawings)

Again and again... my previous group's work.

The top drawings is done by me (Most of them) and Becca. It took me about 2 hours. We've run through the black water colour first to create the texture, and then did the same thing on the top, and then when thats dryed we've added the designs on the top.

The second and third drawing is the Balloon. Becca did the colouring in and Ive done the outline and the design such as ribbons etc.

Sting Animation - Previous group's work (Character design)

Again, my previous group's work here. This is the character designs that Ive done. The plan is that we are going to scan this to the PC and work onto After effect. I have drawn the each piece of the body parts so that it would be easier to work on and create the body movements.

Sting Animation - Previous group's work (Background)

This is the previous group's work that Ive done. The water colour background that has been hand painted onto A4 sheet.

Sting Animation - A new task

My new task is to animate this dog on the stairs. Its a short scene of him sleeping (About 1 or 2 seconds long). Its not the main scene but its related to the story.

I have started learning Flash since Ive joined into this new group... Flash looks complicated, but once I got the hang of it I think I can handle with it.

Im happier that I have a propper tasks to do now, I feel comfortable working on my own pace but also the feeling where I need to push myself.

Hopefully we will get the good outcome in the end!

Sting Animation - Changing group

+I HAVE MOVED INTO DIFFERENT GROUP+

I am now in the group with Kelly and Laura now.

The work will also be uploaded onto the link below:

I will keep this blog for my inividual blog, to show which part I have done.

Sting Animation - Layouts 2

Another experiment on Layouts.

Sting Animation - Layouts

Since I was too ill to go to LA trip I am left here in UK, working towards to our sting animation.

Today I have done a bit of experiment on the layout.
Since the story is based on the space I have done a quick gradient pictures to represent the sky.

Quick long picture of sky. I think because the character is simple hand drawn style the realistic clouds may not be neccesary...

Maybe the stars and clouds can be replaced to hand drawin style as well.

Sting Animation - Group Work

After looking through everyone's brilliant sting Animation (I was away on this day...)
I have put into a group with my friend, we have got told to work on my friend's animation.

The theme is the British animation of 1970s. Our work is going to be very simple but with emotional scenes and unique characters.

My job is to draw the character design, we are keeping the main part of the initial ideas and then develop slightly to make them better to animate.

Also I am going to draw a few more extra items, such as Balloon, rocket etc... plus the background image that I will be designing.

The image on the left is the practise drawing of the main characters. Left character is an astronaut who is also a father of the right character, a Boy.
His Father went to the space and the boy hasn't seen him for while.

The main plot of this story is the 'Family's Love' and 'Reunited'. We will be focusing on how to represent these emotions with using simple characters and designs.

Sting Animation - Layout

LAYOUT is my biggest nightmare... I always struggle with layouts.
For this animation I thought the simple line drawings of buildings would be suitable because the character is simple, if the buildings was in full detail the layout would probably stands out more than the character. So I have sort of drawin a plan of my Layout... As you can see its very VERY simple drawings of buildings and houses. I have only used simple shapes such as square, triangle, circle etc...

I think I will need to work on the layout more, maybe try a couple more compositions and then see which one would match with the characters. Also I think I am going to stick with a simple warm tone colours such as gray, light brown etc...

New Project - Sting Animation

Welcome 2012... I have started this new year with illness...
I have been missing Universities for many days now. I've been to the Doctors but they don't know why I am ill... Ive tryed many medicines but it seems to not want to work on me. Kept feeling fainty and ugh, horrible!! BUT but but I've been trying to work alot at home while Im recovering. Seriously when I'm ill, I'm actually VERY ill that I can't even sit still and work...

Anyway. Our new project is creating a short Sting Animation (20 seconds). We've been creating our own storyboard and character designs etc. For my ideas I wanted to keep my animation as simple as possible, I didn't want to do something too complicated (NOT because Im lazy, I just like the way the look of simple animation)

I have done a couple of character design after I created my basic storyboard.

Now I am on the process of creating the animatic... I have some feeling it will be WAY longer than 20 seconds. I'm gonna have to see which scenes I can trim or add or swap etc etc etc...
